Hi all,

This is my first post on here although I've been reading up for a while before I bought the car and got loads of tips and ideas of what to do to the car, so thank you! Oh and play nice haha.

Last week I purchased a 206 Gti (138) as a bit of a project and to use for hillclimbs and sprints. First time I've ventured away from VAG's but always had a soft spot for 206 since I was younger watching them in the WRC etc.

Anyway the cars done 69k on an 04 plate, got a full service history and just had a major service. On collection of the car was pretty pleased with it, very tidy body work and seems to run great. Had it for about a week and although not got it on the road yet already finding little things to sort!

Firstly the person who owned to before me did quite a few mods that aren't really my thing so sorting them out and putting the car back to visually standard.

Things that need doing include/included -

- new drivers side wing mirror (purchased, not yet fitted)
- replacing the Lexus style light with standard (once again purchased, not fitted)
- removal of rear parcel shelf speakers and the serious rubbish wiring to them. I'll post some pictures kf them further down.
- didn't have a radio so fitted a delete panel
- good clean, in and out
- fit the air box properly. Was on held on with 1 jubilee and 2 screw! (Done)
- fix drivers seat. Doesn't click in. Common problem I'm told.
- replace washer fluid top as broken
- remove 372758285 stickers (including an Air Cooled Dub one)

Once all this is done I can start getting ready to take up the hills and MSA compliant! I'll get some more pictures up when I get the chance. This is what it's look like at the minute after its clean. Any advice or help would be ace!

Thanks Edward!

Welcome to 206info Edward!
Good to see you're fixing the car up already I look forward to seeing your progress, be sure to start a project thread so we can all keep track.

Picture link doesn't seem to work.

A fan of the VAG scene myself although never owned one as of yet, what have you owned in the past?

Just noticed the picture not working myself, I'll do it properly from my computer later. Had a Polo, and currently have a MK2 Leon, but always been around VAG's though, what all mates have and parents.

All you need to do to get the pictures is to click an image from your photobucket link so it opens bigger. On the right hand side you'll see it says Share Links, click the box for direct and it'll copy it to clipboard.

Paste the link inbetween

Little bit of an update on the jobs done.

- fitted the new wing mirror
- Refitted the rear spoiler that rattle
- rear lights arrived and will fit them tomorrow
- K&N filter arrived once again will fit this tomorrow after work.

Anyway still really enjoying the car and slowly getting there. Starting to look how I want it to.

Thanks John. Sounds good, always peace of mind knowing its been serviced.

Few more bits and pieces done yesterday. Got the standard rear lights fitted, look loads better than the old Lexus Style ones. Cannot believe how much of an easy job it was, literally one bolt holding them in. Also the new ones came with all new bulbs which was a rather nice surprise.

Also got the K&N panel filter fitted once again a 2 minute job, don't know if there's any real benefits from them but it was on sale with 25% off so not fussed.

Next on my list to do is to get it up on a ramp to have a proper look at the suspension so i can give it a proper look over and repair / replace anything where needed.

Finally I've just applied for my National B license this morning so hopefully will hear back within a few week and I'll be on my way to getting started in Hill Climbing and Sprints.

Finally got the photos working thanks to Hawkers.

Right, so no actual progress on the car to report...

But, after changing the air filter last week and seeing it was fairly dirty I've decided to give the car an oil service for piece of mind. This will also give me another reason to get the car up on a ramp to have a proper look over it. I had a brief look under the car the other day whilst it was on the ground and the centre section of he exhaust looks like it's seen better days so that might need doing. I've been looking at a Sportex system as they seem pretty reasonably priced and are well recommended. Otherwise fingers crossed nothing else needs doing!

Oh and I've also had my National B Liecnse approved so that should be here soon. I've now also requested all the forms for the Middlands Championship, so to say I'm excited is a slight understatement!

Thanks! Sorry about the slow reply, stacked out with work and uni. In regards to what's best, I'm not really sure. I went for some Ac Delco 5w40 as it was what was recommended. Hope that helps!
