Have a GTi wing to go on, got it very very cheap on eBay in the wrong colour so need it respraying.
Can go down the route of DIY or about £120 at a bodyshop for respray and fitting.
What would you do?
I'm just thinking if I balls it up I'll end up spending twice as much!

Depends on your own DIY spraying confidence and are you planning to fit it yourself?
If not then enquire to see how much they are going to charge to fit it to and if its worth just having them spray it to for the extra cost.
Drilling the holes is a b***h of the job to do without a template too, not a personal fan of doing it and let my body shop guy do it in the end.

I can do basic diy mechanics but no no to body shop stuff - spend the money and get it done properly

Pop into a bodyshop and get a price to have it painted. They might prefer to fit it too so that they can blend the colour match.
Wings aren't that difficult to fit so you could have a bash yourself but very rare do you get the colour match and finish from rattle cans. They are ok for bit jobs, but wouldn't use them on a full panel.

ahhhaa... yes I meant spoiler although I was eBaying a new wing at the time (but that will be the same colour).
lol sorry!
so, back to the OP, spoilier.... DIY or bodyshop?
Bought it for £20 posted in black, the paintwork is actually ok as it is (was expecting worse) but the wrong colour.
Was planing on rubbing it down and rattle canning it. Have thought about keeping it black though..

Well that makes me look less stupid after all
Anyway, not sure on the black on blue look, especially as all the exterior bump strips are colour coded and not black. Would look a lot smarter if it was matched
If you're up for it then give DIY'ing a go. It's not as tough as it seems.
Although £120 is a reasonable price and you know it'll be good quality, decent colour match and it'll stand the test of time.

I suggest that you do it in a garage, try to work something out with the garage for spraying and fitting both spoiler and wing
