Hi guys
Tried fitting a clutch cable to my 1.4 8v 206 this afternoon. it's all on and the clutch works but it's extremely heavy and the pedal is right at the top unlike before. We've removed the white plastic part of the self adjuster but the instructions online say something about a retention cap for the self adjuster. I can't really tell which part this is? if it isn't that then which other part could it be?

It was from my local motor factors, First line is the brand. The white part snapped before we got it all together and the cable doesnt seem to stretch at all, Just tried to move it and it doesn't seem to bite at all :(.
EDIT: Fitted another new cable without the white part snapping off, followed the instructions to a T. Now the clutch isn't heavy but the pedal and bite point are ridiculously high, any idea on how to move the bit point down?

I've just taken it to the garage and he can't see anything wrong with how we fitted the cable and his only suggestion is a new clutch :/ The joys of buying a car with no history I guess.
Do I need a new clutch cable to go with the new clutch as well? Also which brand of clutch should I get as I remember reading that one brand is rubbish.
Thanks for the help

A genuine clutch cable isn't expensive.

Got a national clutch for 59 quid as it's the only one they had in stock, being fitted Friday so hopefully that'll solve the issue.
The aftermarket cable was 26 quid and money is tight enough as it is at the moment with the amount i'm spending on this lovely example of french engineering :/

You will need another new cable to go with the new clutch.

And ensure it is fitted strictly in line with the procedure. Doing otherwise and it can self adjust before fitted making it useless.

Just to update. New clutch was fitted on friday and it's perfect now. Turned out the pressure plate was worn. Mechanic said if I was steady with it I may have got another couple of thousand out of it but i'd rather get it changed now. Hopefully that'll be the last of my issues. Now to move onto the 1.9 diesel my brother got last night :L
