No worries ECB...I know what it's like! I went for Mobil 1 New Life 0W/40 Oil which was recommended at Halfords. Also got new Bosch spark plugs as the old ones were in need of a change! Just ordering the Sportex race pipe and back box now.... Very Happy

Sounds good. Think I'm going to go for the same system when I get round to changing it. Would be interest as to how loud it is with the race pipe, not decided on which centre pipe to go for.

I have ordered a race pipe and 4" oval backbox so sort of similar to the original exhaust tail pipe. I listened to some clips on YouTube and the race pipe is a bit louder but not too bad. I think Vexs said on here somewhere that he had one and sounded good.. Question

Right, so pretty productive day today. Started off with a service thanks to Pug U Like, who's my local Pug specialist. They've been a massive help so far with the car, be it pointing me in the right direction for parts or just explaining bits to me; cannot recommend them enough.

Anyway whilst down there I had a full check up under the car and of the suspension. It was outlined that a few bits needed doing; the exhaust, which I kind of guessed was the case, the pads are on the way out, and the drop links need doing.

Otherwise only good news, the previous owner has polybushed the car, which is brilliant because that was on my list of to do. This afternoon I changed the drivers side drop link which was the worse of the 2 before running out of day lights so i'll do the other side Sunday.

Next loads of parts will hopefully be some greenstuff pads and sportext exhaust.

Finally, I'm on the lookout for a drivers side seat to match my interior as the recliner is bust so its either right back or forward, so if any know of one going please let me know!

Thanks!

Drop links done, no more knocking noise. Also just some random photos of little jobs done.

Lots old/broken bits I've now sorted.

Small update.

Found a drivers seat online which I'm collecting tomorrow after work. Took the current seat out and took the chance to give it a proper Hoover, came up really well.

Also brought myself some race overall, all FIA approved so nearly set for some hill cimbs, just need a helmet now.

Finally found some braided brake lines one eBay, bargain at £10 + p&p, will get them on soonish.

Got to the breakers to collect the new drivers seat, and even though i was told that it was in good condition and all the mechanisms were all working, they weren't. The seat had a rip the size of a 5p and the mechanism was broken. Completely wasted 70 mile round trip.

I've been reading throug the MSA year book and it states that road going sseries cars can have "fully trimmed approved seat" so i might just bite the bullet and buy some on payday, but we'll see.

Right, so today's been a pretty good day, don't work or have uni on Friday, so had plenty of time to spend on the car.

As I said I've been looking for seats to match to no avail. Decided I'd strip the seat down again and thanks to the help of my dad I've now actually fixed it. Saved myself a load of money so dead chuffed. Decided to keep these until I'm done at uni and have a bit more money then ill start the track and sprint prep.

Bit of bad news on the car. Came up to a roundabout about a week ago and the brakes failed...

Lucky, i was only doing 10mph as I'd not long pulled away, and nothing was on the roundabout so managed stop using the handbrake. Pulled over, checked all the braking systems, and couldn't find a fault, fluid in the system ect, the weird thing is the brakes where then working fine after. Needless to say didn't want to risk driving it home and having them fail at 60mph. AA came to my rescue!

There's was little to no pressure in the pedal and the ABS went mental. Checked it all again at home and nothing I can see is wrong. Only thing that I found is an ABS fault, but being fail safe that shouldn't have been the issue? Thoughts would be great?

The only thing myself and the man from the AA could think of is maybe a wheel baring has gone and loosen a caliper off and that's why there was no pressure once and not again after? But there's no play in the wheels or rumble when driving. So not sure.

Anyway getting booked in with a garage to have a good look and see what they think.

Cars all back and working properly with a new speed sensor and brakes sorted, good to have it back. Properly missed it the last few weeks.

Got a few bits ready to order over the weekend -
- Sportex exhaust system
- EBC Green Stuff Pads
- New window wiper (boring I know but very much needed)

I'll also sort the braided lines out at the same time as doing the pads. Seeing as the discs on the car are fairly new they'll stay for the time being until upgrade to either 180 set up or 406.

Also trying to talk a few mates into a track day down at Mallory Park in about month.

Boring post about detailing to follow...

So, still not had my loan come through from student finance, so no new parts to talk about.

But, I did give the car it's first proper detail. Paint wasn't bad but after a polish with Autogylm super Resin and then a coat of Poor Boys wax it came up so nice! Also cleaned all the wheel arches properly and behind the splash guards with the jet wash, you wouldn't believe the crap that came out! Following this I gave the engine a much needed detail and its come up ok, but the engine covers been badly painted by the previous owner and is beyond polish and cutting, needs redoing really. Also treated all the plastic and rubbers so there now blaaaacckkk rather than a horrible grey.

Any way enough chat more photos -

Also gave the Leon's engine bay a proper cleans which has come up like new, dead chufffed the the results. Well worth all the messing about with degreaser, cleaning solution, detailing bushes and trim polish.

Looks really tidy the 206 does. Not convinced by the tow sticker though.
