right, so I had 2 part worn tyres fitted at a garage a few days ago on my 02 206 lx, passenger front side and drivers rear, once I had the tyres fitted I was told they couldn't balance them out as my wheels don't have the centre hub caps part, and that they should be ok, now when im steering and leave the steering wheel centrally the cars going slightly left, I took it back and told it was the tracking and it was £25 quid to get tracked, so I had it done and still doing the same and the guy at the garage swears the tracking was spot on, so im a bit stuufed as to whats going on, ive been told it needs the wheels balanced by a friend, but it was veering of to the left before I had the tyres changed to be honest, ive checked tyre pressures incase it was that and they are all even at 2.4 bar

Don't see why they couldn't balance them. Could be a buckled wheel causing the problem.
It could be a knackered tyre. the problems with part worns is that you don't know the history. It could have been involved in a smash, might have been bounced up the kerb everyday of it's life, but if the problem was there before the tyres were changed, then unlikely to be the cause.
Do you have a matched pair anywhere on the car? If you do you could try putting them both on the front.The different tread patterns may be causing the car to pull.
Also check the suspension for any wear. A knackered bottom arm could be causing the problem, could even be a binding brake.

cheers, trouble with being a new driver and having learnt In a new car don't know what to look out for and the symptoms etc only passed in January lol had the front wishbones replaced in feb so they should be ok (if that's what u meant lol )

Was ir pulling before the wishbones were replaced? Were the a cheap brand?

never really noticed it before they were replaced because literally I bought the car then a few days later had to change the clutch because it had worn, then when the mechanic was replacing the clutch he noticed the wishbones and replaced them too so im not sure, and not sure what make as I didn't replace them myself (sorry about being awkward lol)

there are two types of machines for balancing, i too have been in that situation. you need to take the car to another garage whom can balance the wheels who have the other type of balancing machine.

Cheers mate, my local kwick fit say they can do them 6.75 per tyre might have to end up taking it there.

Wheels with non removable centres have been around since before a lot of the members on this forum where born.
What you can see at certain tyres places is just pure bone idleness & cant be arsed attitude to swop the adaptor over on the balancing machine.
I bet if you where buying 4 brand new tyres they would soon swop the adaptor over
You can have the tracking set spot on BUT the steering wheel is still of centre, its either poor workmanship of the person who is doing the tracking OR someone has had the steering wheel removed in the past & refitted it of centre.
Did you see them do the tracking?
How many times did the ramp go up & down during the adjustment?
You need to turn the wheel left to right a few times after each adjustment to settle things then re lock the steering wheel in the centre position before rechecking / adjusting again.
Repeat until the alignment is spot on & the steering wheel is dead straight.

cheers for the reply mate, the ramp went up and down once or twice, made us sit in the office though so cudnt see much, I did take it back to them this afternoon and he hooked the tracking device things back on the wheels and said they are fine(didn't move the ramps this time at all, not even up once) he said it wouldn't be the wheel balancing either or the steering wheel would shake (baring at mind I barely go over 30mph at all being a new driver, apart from the odd dual carriageway that's 40mph) he's saying it could be the brakes or wishbones, I said the wishbones were recently replaced and he just shrugged it off, so I had enough of that garage, walked out and booked it into kwik fit for a free brake check in the morning and they're gonna check there's no binding, then will balance my tyres for 15 quid hopefully should sort the problem.

had most of em done already pmsl only had the car since feb lol changed tyres, had new clutch, new wishbones, exhaust clamps

Been Turns out the tyres I had are barely legal and tracking miles out both front tyres facing left, the 2 I had fitted were barely legal on the inner, turms out I need 4 new tyres,got refund on the other and tracking from other garage

You need matching tyres & pressure. Otherwise it will pull One way or another.

Considering the tyres are the things that keep you on the road,
you should never scrimp on them.

You should try black circles as they are usually cheaper than Kwickfit etc
