I have recently bought my red 206GTi and have a bit of a steering issue... When I put the power down there is a slight pull to the left and if I suddenly release the throttle there is a definite pull right.

Any ideas?

Is this going to cost me a million pounds?

I had this on a diesel but really bad, I spent a lot of money trying to sort it and in the end it was the driveshafts. You need a good garage to check everything over really, it's worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to learn as much as I can as the car is a little project for me. Such a shame there is no Haynes manual for the GTi.

Morning,
Does it pull either way when braking?

Just thinking if one of the front calipers wasn't releasing all the way it might cause it. Easy to check just lift that wheel and give it a spin, should be equal both sides.

Just an idea
Regards, Richard.

Very long thread on here where someone had different dimensions on their bottom wishbones. That really was a bugger to diagnose.

Use the search function and you will find many threads with different causes.

Looks like I have a slow puncture so will get that seen to first. Both wishbones are the same dimensions but they are different brands. No sign of any play in the bushes or bearings though.

It only bloody worked didn't it!

I now have a car that drives in a straight line AND has a decent idle!!! WHOOOOP

However I did just over-torque by boss in a bout of excitement and cracked the cast iron...whoops

There is a Haynes manual that covers the 206 GTi. It's just a shame they did the engine work on a 307 because they don't consider the access problems in the tighter engine bay of the 206.
