Must be the Balljoint Protector.....They must not have put it back into the correct position when they put everything back together. Can I push it back into place? I guess it is held in place via the rubber...?

It sounds like the same thing. Yes when doing the shocks they have probably been off but not the garage's fault as they will have been rusted and knackered before the garage touched them.

If it needs replacing that is going to be a right pain. Just looked up the part and they are a few quid...but putting them on maybe another issue....

Well, taken a good look and the protector is well loose....but I can't get it off, plus right now its peeing down! The off side doesn't have one anyway. The reason for it moving is because you have the rubber balljoint, then a rubber o ring...the cover sits on that and then you should have another o ring....this one is missing. So for now I have spun the cover around and forced it to sit on the arm in order for it not to rattle. I am going to have the drop links changed next month so will get them to remove the offending item!
