Hey guy. Not had a good weekend. Cut the story short a girl ran out in front of me for a bus on the other side (three lane Road) ended up hitting her with. Completely smashed the window screen. But thank God she's safe and well. Only had a few cuts and bruses. Now I'm only insured 3rd party and it doesn't include window screen cover. So am I just unlucky and have to pay 200 pound to get it fixed?

I take it the police were called and a report done that doesn't lay the blame on you. If so take a civil claim against her for the cost of repairs.

When I had my screen replaced a few years ago it was £90, although I used a local fitter rather than a national company. Shop around.

I paid £80 for a small company to fit mine, though be it that was a basic screen!

Shame to hear whats happened though!

Hey, yeah the the police were called. She has said she was at fault and didn't look. The police said the car was un-driveable driveable. There's only one window screen replacement company in Canterbury. I had no choice but to take it there. I didn't want to pay to get it recovered aswell. They quoted me 211 I think

Good job you wasn't driving a Citroen C6, Jaguar XK or one of the other many new cars that have active bonnet pedestrian protection systems fitted else you would be making an insurance claim to have the system repaired & reset.

Yeah imagine if you had to pay for damage but the pedestrian could have been injured...

As long as it wasn't the drivers fault, is natural selection really a bad thing

Have you enquired with Autoglass/National Windscreens at all? Famed for not being cheap but I think I had to pay £80 excess on my windscreen when I had it replaced by National (for a windscreen with the rain/light sensor in as well). Think total price was c.£200 with them so may be worth a shot?

Well I got it done with national as there the only people thay could do it in the area and they let me dump the car there. It was only around the corner from where it happened. So I didn't have to get it recovered. Yeah it came to £216!!!
