Hello. Had the old car looked out today and all is good. They said that the lower arms will probably need replacing before the next MOT...no play yet but rubber parts are splitting and perishing. For both the quote was £290 including VAT and labour....sound about right?

£40 for a geometry check sounds expensive. Most places charge half that for a tracking check and adjust.
£56 per hour labour could be reasonable, depending on what type of garage it is
I'd ask what make of wishbone they are fitting at £61 each. Sounds like a cheap brand with a garage mark up. If they are cheap, there is a good chance of failure again.
Shop around, you can probably get them done cheaper

Euro car parts have two....Lamforder and Ocap. Big price difference....£75 and £35 respectively...I personally wouldn't buy the cheap one. Could always buy the ones I want and get a garage to fit them. Plus you don't know if the garage get the cheap kind and mark it up.

If you feel like you can do it cheaper, buy the parts your self then shop around for the lowest £per hr. Or get a haynes manual and do it your self.
