Hello again. Have scoured the forums but not found anything.

2002 206 gti

My air con died, not entirely sure but the low speed cooling fan died around the same time. Only noticed cooling fan was not working because it wasn't coming on with the a/c and the clicking sounds stopped. Sorted the cooling fans - now working as they should. Air con however is still not working.

Had an a/c service done today, re gased, no leaks, pressure is fine and fuses are good.

The guy said it required further investigation but could be the pressure switch, relay, sensor or the compressor is dead and quoted £600 to replace. That is not going to happen but I would like to have my dad check those other things for me.

Could someone point me in the right direction of where to find these things, and anything else that would be worth checking before I resign myself to open windows, noise and blowy hair Wink

Reading other threads, I notice people saying when they press the a/c button they get a green light. I dont see a green light and I'm not entirely sure I ever did, even when a/c was working?

Any suggestions, help is much appreciated Smile

You should here the ac compressor kick in when you turn it on, this is usually accompanied by an initial drop in revs till the alternator takes up the load.

Thank you both. As I said, the compressor does not kick in. There are no clicking sounds, no change in the revs. I am not going to replace the compressor as I dont feel it is worth the cost, however I am trying to pin point if there is perhaps something else that could cause the compressor not to kick in.

What do you mean by blower motor? If you mean blowing air out the vents, yes, I'm getting air blowing out the vents on all speeds.

Thanks again!

Lack of gas in the system, sensed by a pressure switch (which could also fail, making the systen think there's no gas, despite there actually being sufficient gas in the system)

Thank you! Any idea's where we would locate this pressure switch?

Sorry, no further than 'follow the air-con pipes around...'
Google or eBay will give you how it looks.

Read the fault codes. One should show up for a pressure switch.
