Poor or worn plugs. Possibly NGK fitted. Possibly knackered coil pack

Have you got power at the coil pack? If you have, then it could be a faulty coil pack itself. Have you tried a different one?
If you haven't got power there, chase it back and find out where its going.

***disclaimer*** I've never owned a 1.1 TU-series engine, and have very little knowledge of them, so i'm sorry if these suggestions are wild.

Could be crank sensor indeed...
Anything that gives the ECU information about the engine's firing cycle which if giving poor signal makes the data it receives unclear and can send the ECU into safety mode (maybe cut fuel or spark to a cyclinder).

Poor or interrupted current flow (Earth strap/sensor/connector/faulty or sparking to surrounding block coilpack) seem likely...

I have tried the pp2000 program and it confirms the phase detection integrated into ignition and it also shows the ecu is locked and that no keys are synchronised. any ideas on this anyone. I must say that its my first time using pp2000 so not sure what I am doing really. I assume the immobiliser is not unlocking the ecu and allowing the engine to fire and run ?
