Hi guys, my car, a 2005 1.4 8v, has recently just overheated and split the radiator. I've just replaced the Rad and the thermostat. another thing someone had said to replace was the fan switch as it doesn't seem to be cutting in. looked at loads of different forum posts and they've shown diagrams and pictures with a blue plug and sensor on the right hand side of the engine. I cannot for the life of me find the switch? (the one I have ordered is a 29 or 30mm nut with what looks like a temp sensor on it. there is a smaller green plug around the same area, which is an 18mm spanner instead? another forum said that it is the engine temp sensor and I need to replace that?

fan usually cuts in around 90, worth checking all the relays for corrosion and the wiring for the fan as that can be prone to getting water in and corroding

Hi, changed the rad and thermostat and its all good the fan doesn't seem to be cutting in still? all the wires still have their insulation around them... so that narrows it down to the relays? there is what looks like 3 relays behind a small panel behind the grille.

Well you need to have the fans kick in,or you will have this problem again,as high temp. will cause a high pressure in the cooling system,which leads to the problems you had,so make sure to fix the fans ASAP,just a small test,unplug the temp. sensor plug,and see if the fan kick in or not,if not,then you need to check relays.and make sure u got voltage there.
