We threw them out as they are not needed.

Not built yet. It will have a gti180 head with catcams 805. More potential with bigger displacement, but we will see.

Excellent. I'm surprised you still have the air conditioning pump still in there. Would be interesting to see how the EW12 likes to rev with it being a longer stroke than the EW10.

I've had mine in for sometime now BTW, did you notch your pistons for valve clearance, the valves on the 180 open more than the ew12s. I did on mine but I also kept the balancing shafts,

I Timed the cams in a way that there is enough clearance when the cam is fully advanced so no notching the pistons needed. The cams are Catcams 4901805, so much more lift than the original GTI180 cams. The springs and retainers are also from Catcams.

The Balancing shafts were deleted because the rev limit will be higher and there is possibility of oil starvation and balancing shaft seizing.

@tRiCk: did you get it remaped or at least on a rolling road?

So things are moving along, the engine is in the car and should be getting the new loom, ECU and tune in the following weeks.

Here's also a short video from last years track session. Had to slow down in the middle, due to a "funny" feeling in the steering though it luckily turned out to be fine Smile

Thanks for the vid! Will serve me as a benchmark to hit of a well balanced rebuilt engine -- you gotta hear those 16 valves purrrrrroaring! Nom Nom Droolage!

What was that steering wheel feeling out of interest?

It was like driving on gravel etc. It's been a while since the last time I was out on track and forgot that the tires will pickup allsort of crap, specially if you're on the outerparts of the racing line Laughing

Can't wait for the new engine though, that will be a lot more fun Smile

Doesn't seem to rev any slower than the 138. Well not that I can notice, I done the conversion about 6 months ago. Still running 138 ecu atm hoping to fit a piggyback to properly control the vvt as its just on a switch atm.

Black 206 Gti. Soon to be 2.2
