Hi,

I have a 2004 1.4Hdi and getting ready for its MOT i noticed the steering rack is damp around where the column comes through the bulkhead and connects to the rack.

Hopefully my pics will show as have had trouble posting them.
first question,Is this an MOT failure or maybe just an advisory?
Second question, I have a good rack on another 2005 1.4 8v will this rack fit straight onto my 1.4Hdi or are they different?

Best regards Terry

Is it actually dripping onto the ground when the engines running? If not it would just be an advisory, looks like it's coming from one of the pipes but is hard to see from the photos. Not sure about the other steering rack, hopefully someone on here will know

Sounds like a new steering rack is needed

Not at the moment but i havnt had a chance to refill the reservoir back up yet as it was empty when i got the car home (didnt actually check it whilst buying the car)

But according to the documentation in Peugeot service box the racks on the 1.4 petrol and the 1.4Hdi are identical part numbers

Cheers Terry
