Hi,
Got aproblem that is getting worse and thinking you guys can help.
The car is a 200 W reg 206 with approx 120 thou on the clock. The problem is that i get hesitation/misses from the engine. The odd thing is, is that starting from cold i can garentee that the first miss/hesitation (feels like running out of fuel or ignition not firing ) is when the coolent gauge hits 70, sometimes a little before but always at 70 i will then get another one at approx 80. From then on its hit a mis how many more times it will happen.
The items i have replaced are.....
1, plugs
2, oil and filter
3, air filter
4, TPS sensor
5, cleaned throtle
6, replaced o2 sensor.
7, renewed coolent sensor (green one)
8, used diffrent fuels
9, new coil pack (correct one starting with a B)
All of the above have no impact on the hesitation/miss.
Its driving me crazy now as if it happens at a junction i could get hit by another car due to the affects it has its like i can not accelerate for a split second and i have to either take foot of gas or push further down on the peddle and get a massive surge.
Its steadily getting worse and has been happening now for appox 6 months.
Does anyone have any ideas??????

Morning, have you had anything done with the timing belt recently?
Some symtoms match, but the progressivly worse doesn't i don't think, 1st thing that came to mind was the timing may be a tooth out or something.
Hopefully other people will be along soon. Also might be useful to say which engine it has.
Regards, Richard.

Hi,
I had the timing belt done 2 years ago but I've had these symptoms for approx 5 months now.
Sorry I didn't mention earlier it's a 1.4 engine.

My next step is a new MAP sensor, air temp sensor and the brown coolent temp sensor. Plus I'm trying g to buy a p2000 reader off eBay but they do go for fair few quid.
Any more help would be appreciated.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!
Exactly the same symptoms with our 1.4i 2000 model - no codes found with PP200. Any idea if this was resolved and what the issue was?

Sounds very much like what was happening to mine (W reg 1.4) Its been an on going thing...lumpy idle, miss here and there, and then hesitation as I pull away from lights, change gear...frankly it was getting dangerous. I have done as much as you changing parts. I did have a really bad misfire and it was an injector. I bought second hand via ebay. They are really easy to change. The ones for my car are only £40 new from eurocarparts...perhaps try to change them? The problem got so bad last week that it was becoming un drivable. So, go another O2 sensor (£14 from ebay) put in an old coilpack I had...I did have a new after market one in I bought new in the summer...must say, the original ones are heavier than the cheap ones....did a BIS reset and so far....it is a smooth as a kitten. Not sure if it will last...I personally suspect the injectors on mine but don't have the dosh to replace them at the mo. My one has done a few more miles than yours, 145000...but it is the same year and reg...and even though it is old and not a very nice colour...its not going to impress the ladies, I want to keep it on the road as long as poss. Good luck!

Thanks, MrMac.
The Idle Control Valve was playing up over the weekend, so I'll replace that next and see how we get on...

Well this is getting annoying. New Bosch plugs, MAP sensor, IDC, TPS & CTS. Definitely running smoother, best fuel consumption we've had and the idle is now rock steady.
But... the hesitation/judder is still there. I can't help but think this is somehow related to the transition between open and closed loop running and the engine is running lean/rich for some reason.
Not a lot left to change now... coil pack, injectors, inlet temp sensor & lambda sensor.
What next?
