Hello everybody
I recently purchased a 2004 206 1.1 as a first car for my son. Car ran great for a couple of weeks then began running very rough and occasionally would cut out while he was driving it. I have replaced air sensor, map sensor, all 4 fuel injectors, spark plugs and coil pack but still runs rough. Took to garage and they repeated what I had already done. They then advised it could be the wiring loom and/or the ecu. I have purchased second hand ecu and fitted it. Car will turn over but not start so am assuming immobiliser cutting in. I am also assuming that the keys will need to be programmed to the ecu. This car does not have central locking. Everything I have read to reset keys all relate to cars that do. Can anybody please help with this. Neither key has any buttons on the fobs
Regards

When changing the ECU, you also need to replace the BSI and the immo chip, all from the same donor car. You can get away with replacing the ECU and BSI from the donor and then get a new virgin chip coded to the car, but you will need either the alpha numeric security from the donor vehicle. If the code isn't available, you can get it from the dealer but you will need the VIN from the donor car and proof that you are the legal owner of that vehicle, otherwise you could get Johnny Scroatbag walking down a street, getting the VIN from the windscreen and then walking into a dealer for the code, making it easier to steal the car.
The first step before replacing anything on the car should have been a diagnostic check preferably with PP2000 to see if any potential faults showed up. Until that is done, you are just throwing money away.
