Hi, someone please help me I'm going out of my mind trying to figure this out!

My 206 -03 REG- front wipers stopped in the the middle of the windscreen and the washer jets do not work, I managed to get them down again, I have changed the motor for the wipers checked all the fuses and it still does not work. The rear wiper and washer works, just don't see why the front ones don't. Can anyone give me any ideas? Would be appreciated .

Hi and welcome!

I'm in no way a professional when it comes to these things but I'll offer my limited knowlege. How did you manage to get the wipers down again? Unless someone on here knows otherwise, my money would be on the comm2000 unit (The thing that your wiper and indicator stalks come out of). I say this because front wipers and washers are controlled by movement of the stalk yet rear wiper relies only on the twisting motion. What engine do you have? If you're local to Gloucestershire I'd be more than happy to take a look. If not I'll take my comm unit apart tonight and get you some photos of what I think the problem may be.

If you're willing to have a tweak and take some things apart I can run you through what I would check.

Hopefully someone on here can come and shed some light as I'm only having a stab in the dark here.

I'm taking the casing off now to have a look, the engine is a 1.4 automatic, I say it's my car but it's actually my brothers lol, he's clueless when it comes to cars so I said I'll try and sort it for him, I'll see if I can see any problems with the stalk, what would you suggest to look at?

Ok and update, I just tried the wipers again they struggle to go up, but if I pull the up a tad and put the wiper talk all the way down, they go down really fast?

If I pull the wipers up the window a little, it stops me pulling them up higher and they start bouncing like the motor wants it to go up, but when I put the stalk to 0 on the wiper the wipers slam down to the off position?

So what's the currnet situation? You are doing all of this with the ignition on right? Might sound like a silly question but you'd be surprised aha

Right the wipers work, problem I got is, if I set them to the position when the wipers aren't on, when I turn the wipers on they go down towards the engine bay? If I set the wipers half way up the window they wipe the window, but stop half way up the windscreen?running out of ideas lol

Problem is basically when I turn the wipers on, they go down like 10 inches before they come up again to wipe the screen?

Sorry I'm struggling with the wording a little. So you're saying if you put the wipers in the position they should come to rest in then they move down when you try to wipe? And if they're placed half way up the windscreen then they wipe up and then go back to rest half way up?

If I set the wipers on the rest position, they go down towards the engine bay. If I set the wipers up halfway on the windscreen, they still go down about 10 inches, then they go up to wipe the screen and go back to halfway where I set them. So long story short, instead of the wipers just going straight up to wipe the screen, they go down 10 inches before they come up and wipe the screen. So I can't set them to the rest position otherwise they get caught on the black plastic below the windscreen covering the engine bay

Take the wipers off ... Get the motor back to park then replace the wipers. Piece of masking tape on one spindle might help
Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.
