Hi,all. I have a slight niggle with my Mrs 206 1.4i 8v 2002 model,in that I have replaced the crankshaft oil seal on the timing side, but I think the flywheel and crank may have moved,as I cannot get the locking pin back in the flywheel. The locking pin is still in the camshaft hole, but as I am about to refit the cambelt,I need to know for sure how I can get the crank/flywheel to be in alignment again so I do not damage anything on startup.

Can I just turn the crank bolt by hand with the cambelt off to get the flywheel in the right place again so it takes the locking pin, then I can refit the crankshaft cambelt pulley and all will be in line to fit the belt back and fine to start it? Confused
Thanks in advance guys,as I am half way through and need it done by tomorrow. Smile

Why did you take the locking pin out of the flywheel in the first place? Really unless the engine is being stripped, while the timing belt is off both pins should stay in place. Even when the head is off the crank should be locked as any movement can move the cylinder liners.

You should be able to turn the crank by hand to get the pin back in, but if you meet any resistance, then stop. You'll also find it easier if you take the plugs out as you won't be fighting the compression. If you are lucky, it will only have moved a few degree one way or the other.

Once you get the belt back on, give the engine 2 revolutions by hand to make sure that nothing has gone wayward.

Hi. I took the locking pin out the flywheel as the Haynes plus other sources say to do so when undoing the crankshaft nut.?
I guess so it does not jam in there?
I have turned the crank twice by the nut and the locking pin went in,so I guess its good to go,is it not to fit the cambelt?
Also what size locking pin goes in flywheel end hole,as I had a right b*****d game with it?

Cheers olly
