I need help with my manual 04 plate Peugeot 206. My Windows keep misting up on Eco mode when I'm driving within 10 minutes. The air blowing out also smells slightly damp. The only way there is no condensation is when I have the air con on. I have only had the car for a year and I've checked for any leaks or broken seals and there are non. There are no damp patches in the car either so I am stuck to what the issue could be.

Please help!

Does the model of car have a pollen filter. Often overlooked as a filter on cars so become damp and dirty and a health hazard full stop really.

Not sure about the driving on Eco mode part as that's what comes on to save the battery. Might be a climate control thing.

Have you got your heater set to fresh air or recirculate?
Unfortunately it sounds more like a weather related issue. Warm moist air inside the car, cold frosty air outside is going to build misting on the windows. The problem is that in winter the slightest bit of moisture inside the car is going to cause issues until the glass gets a bit of temperature in it. As said make sure your windows are clean and you can use things like anti-fog but shaving foam works just the same. Another thing you could try is those little packets of silica. Place a couple in the car. If you have none lying around, you can buy the moisture absorbing crystals from most supermarkets and place the tub under one of the seats to help dry the car out fully. A small tub of salt can also do the job but if you drop any on the carpets and then it gets wet, it can easily rot away the fabric.

The damp smell could be the pollen filter and as vivfx said, they are a health hazard. When I first got the 206 it smelt and the wife was getting ill travelling in it. When I checked the pollen filter it looked like it hadn't been changed for a couple of years. It now gets changed every 6 months. We've even started using it as an air freshener. A bit of fabric conditioner poured onto the new one and allowed to dry fully before fitting gives a nice smell inside the car.

ECO on the climate control display panel means the air conditioning part of the system has been turned off.

The car would demist / dry out a lot quicker if the air conditioning was used.

Just leave the climate control in AUTO & just adjust the temperature as required.
