Hi all,

My wife has a 206 HDi with a very worn looking keyfob, around 6 months ago we had the button breaking issue and were quoted £170 by a dealer for a new key. We just happened to pass a Euro Car Care place and called in on the off chance and the repaired a broken micro switch and replaced the case on the fob.

over the passed couple of weeks the buttons have gone again, so i`m looking at buying a new fob case and transferring the internals. It looks a fairly straight forward job but, before I buy anything I have a couple of questions.

1. Can I use use one of the flip key cases or another more robust case so they last a bit longer, if so which would be the best to look for.

2. reading around the cases are quite easy to get hold of but, I want to make sure I have the right one. I have seen some say the hole in the end of the blade not matching up properly, and buttons not long enough to make contact with the switches underneath. Is there an easy way to confirm I`m purchasing the right casing?

Thanks

Thanks to MrWhite's brilliant idea, I recently bought this flipping key fob Smile

Paid another fiver at local locksmiths, 20 seconds later I had a perfect cut Wink Which took a small amount of careful wiggling to bed in when inside the ignition switch, and sometimes even hard to pull out (gosh!), but couple of weeks down and it's all going like hot knife through butter

I chose that flip key due to buttons being embossed (raised), so it's easier to find the right spot, but they delivered one looking like this:

Which looks much sleeker and it's possible to memorise button locations depending on where your key ring starts Smile

Yes don't forget the immobiliser chip. I too have the flip case. I ended up blue tacking the chip in the case as it rattled around. Don't expect too much life out of it as my buttons have all cracked in
