I have a 51 plate 206 1.4 lx automatic. I know a lot of people on this forum do not like the auto box on these, but the problem I have is that when i put it into d,r, 2 or 3 the engine just revs and not move, no fault has shown up on dash board (ie sport and sow light flashing) and the speedo actually goes up to about 10mph even though the car is not actually moving.

It happened suddenly, I was caught in a traffic que behind an accident so decided to turn around, as I went from reverse to drive as part of my manoeuvre when it just wouldn't go anywhere and I was stuck in the middle of the road Embarassed , been told it could be the oil in the auto box and needs changing because it could be too thin how do I change it or does anyone else have any ideas (not get rid as this will not be helpful)

Only just bought the car privately.

Thanks in advance for your help

I would be taking it to a main dealers for a start to have the fault codes read off the auto box ECU and go from there.

Changes are the oil needs changing and a pressure solenoid has gone down, this is NOT and i repeat NOT a DIY job, the auto box needs to be between 54 to 60 degrees to check the oil level correctly and the wear counter needs to be reset after the oil change

Also you must 1000000 percent run the correct peugeot AL4 box oil, otherwise it will bugger the box very fast
