Hi,
I know makes and models but bit s**t when it comes to mechanical information on cars.
Ive brought this 206 (206 1.2 LX Petrol - 53 Plate) 4 days ago from a trade dealer in PX. Now it has part service history and full mot history.l
Ive looked online and found that some 206 STOP light does not light up when you start the electrics when the other instrument lights come on.
Here is a video of my instrument panel:
sorry about loud fan noise i forgot to turn my heaters off.
drive.google.com/file/...sp=sharing
But in 1.6 or higher the stop light does or in a higher spec e.g. gti etc...
Now is it just me or no matter what model, year, make, spec of the car the stop light will light up.... even though ive seen videos showing it doesn't...
Please get back to me asap before I speak to the trade dealer about returning this vehicle.

Hi and welcome!
I drive a 206 1.4 8v ('03). It is multiplexed like yours and shares the same dials so they should operate in the same way.
On mine the stop light does light up on startup so it would imply that your LED behind it is dead. Does your BSI (Indicators etc.) make an audible noise when you indicate or if you lift the handbrake enough for the light to come on when driving (Just under 1 click)
If so then it's likely just the LED has died. This is an easy fix if you own a soldering iron as they are just surface mount LED's.
If not then someone is trying to hide a fault with the car IMO.
When the stop light comes up the car botts into 'limp-home' mode and you would definitely notice in a 1.1 as it'll keep stalling unless you rag it.

BSI reboot would be a good idea.
The multiplexed instrument clusters are normally bulletproof for reliability unless someone's been fiddling with it in past.

Also to note, the battery was changed about 8 months ago so the BSI procedure might fix the issue.
