Hi again,

Yesterday discovered my clutch to be slipping a moderate amount. Naturally I want to fix it myself but with limited knowledge on the subject I was hoping someone on here would be kind enough to lend me a hand.

I have searched around on here but I don't suppose anyone can point me in the direction of a good how to or just some pointers would be great.

Clutch change on a 1.4 8v is about a 3 hour job if that.

Remove shafts, battery including box & tray, airbox.
Disconnect gear linkages, sensors on box and earth lead.
remove starter motor (3 bolts at the back)
remove gearbox mount and botls, box should just fall off with a little bit of persuasion.
remove clutch pressure plate & friction plate, check the flywheel isn't scored,
Fit new clutch pressure & friction plate making sure it's lined up properly.
Change the diff seals and the sleeve over the input shaft on the box and put it all back together.

Thanks for that. When you say sleeve over the input shaft what part would I have to buy?

Don't forget to support the engines when removing the gearbox mounts or you'll have big problems.

Thanks for the info. How do you recommend I do this? Jack and a wood block? Or a small beam and nylon straps?
