Hello,
I am new to the forum, but after some advice before I get stung by a garage. I have a 2005 2.0 HDI which is currently leaking fuel. There is strong smell coming through the vents when I am driving. Not too mention I drive a 30 mile round trip and almost use a quarter of a tank of diesel.
I have removed the plastic cover on the engine bay and taken a photograph of the leak location but have no idea how to post it?!
Can anyone help please?

Looks like the fuel filter housing, is that a previous repair on top? The left hand side pipe?
breakers yard might be your best bet, just un clip all the pipes, disconnect the cable and then unscrew the top ring and pull up.

thanks for the reply. i haven't replaced or changed anything. would the filter housing usually split or leak?
the drip is coming from underneath the housing.

before you check at scrap yard,check the dealer,or some auto parts store,you might find it cheaper to replace new than used,send me your car VIN,and I can get you the part number of it.

Is this is an issue?
It looks like fuel is pooling on top of the filter housing. If it isn't leaking from the plastic weld (?superglue) repair on the top of the housing try tightening it ring around the edge. DO NOT TWIST THE PIPES ON TOP. They will not tighten the seal. While you're there try ensuring all the pipes are pushed home and locked in place.

I also had the same diesel fuel leak on my 2.0 HDI. Year 2005. It happened immediately after I serviced the car using a totally useless and cheap patterned fuel filter. The fuel leak was a result of me fitting the sealing ring that came with the patterned filter. The seal quality was terrible and fuel leaked from it, onto the top of the filter housing.
I then went out and purchased a decent make filter (FRAM) and simply replaced the sealing ring. This totally cured the fuel leak..... Hope this helps.
