Hello guys,
I have a problem with my 2006 206 hdi 1.4 hatchback.
The car wouldn't start anymore.
OBD reader says there is a camshaft sensor problem.
Tried a new camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and replaced the timing belt this morning.
No luck, same problem.
Same errorcode, Camshaft sensor.
Tried to delete the code but it pops right back up when it is deleted (even before trying to restart).
Timing in between the sensors is right according to my obd reader.
So do I need to replace the wiring, ECU?
Any other problems I need to look at?

If it's not the sensor it could be the wiring.

You need to check the wiring from the plug back to the ECU,and make sure it's good,if not you need to fix the broken or cut wire,as deleting the error and coming back right away means it's not able to delete it,and you tried a new sensor and same problem,so must be wiring,if not,then ECU need to be fixed.

I'm going to check all the wiring tonight.
When cranking, my obd software says crank and cam sensor timing is ok, so it must get some signal.

Checked the wiring, no damages.
The sensor has 3 wires, green, purple and white.
With ignition on, green wire has 0V, purple wire has 12V, and white wire has 5V.
Error code:
P0344: camshaft position sensor circuit intermitting.

What are you using to read it? My 2002 broke down recently and among the codes were one for the crank sensor (which is was!) and another for my clutch switch (which it doesn't have!).
Unless it is a real match for Peugeot it could be leading you up the garden path ..

Needs scanning with Peugeot Planet else your just p**sing in to the wind.
Be interesting to know what the fuel pressure is during cranking.

Due to this being the 1.4 hdi, I am going to say take a look at the fuel lines, especially where they come in around the air filter. None common problem on these to cause air leaks into the fuel lines from rubbing.

I'm using Delphi OBD reader and software.
Will check one last time for problems tomorrow, fuel could be the problem but I doubt it.

Fuel is flowing through the small hand pump when cranking, could there be a hole in the return line?
The car starts with start pilot, So no mechanical damage.
The only thing that I haven't tried according to the program Autodata is change the ecu.
I will try find one locally and test it on the car.
Would the tension on the timing belt matter?
When mounted, I could turn it about 45 degrees between crank and camshaft.

So I checked the fuel lines again and after sitting for 2 days the line where you can see through had no fuel in it.
When I pumped the balloon, I saw fuel going through the line. Is this normal?
All the fuel lines where replaced 2-3 years ago, removed the airbox to check everything but all was fine.
Anywhere to manually check for fuel pressure?

Be warned this is a common rail diesel fuel system & the pressures inside the fuel lines will easily damage / injure a human.
Unless your trained / skilled in common rail diesel fuel systems leave the high pressure side of the system well alone!
Plug Peugeot Planet in, you will be able to see the fuel pressure readings.

So I plugged my Delphi obd reader back in and took a closer look at the live data.
When cranking I have no fuel pressure, stays at 0 bar, this peugeot 206 (2006 hdi 1.4) doesn't have a pump in the tank I've read.
The injectors are only activated by the ecu once the pressure reaches a certain threshold?
I guess it is best to go to a garage and let them have a look at the high pressure fuel lines and fuel pump.
As I said all the fuel lines were replaced 3 years ago with a new primer pump.
No visible fuel leaks, damage to the lines. Yesterday I used the primer pump and saw air in the system, only after like 5 pumps I saw fuel flowing through.
