Little update

Removed all the tensioners and waterpump

 


Removed the Turbo and studs

 


Injectors and Head bolts out

 


Any pulled the head off, crappy elring 3 notch, fibre gasket. Shan't be fitting one of those when it gets rebuilt.

 


 


And the block which needs a clean up now

 


Tidy bore, no nasty scores. Will be getting a hone out before it goes back together

 


Also flipped the engine over and unbolted the sump. Could not believe how clean it was in there. It doesn't say anything about removing the sump in the service history I have. It shows if you keep on top of your oil changes, especially on a diesel. Got to get the oil pump unbolted and then pull the pistons.

So it went on the dyno today.

Local place to me, seemed to be a good setup so went in for the hell of it.

Pulled 194.3hp 242.6lb.ft

Couple pictures, the exhaust box couldn't keep up..smoked the shed out

 


 


And the graph...looks ok to me.

Its still on going, got more plans but unfortunately once over the 200hp mark, £££ start mounting up to take it further.

I just turned it down for mot and limited the throttle arm. To
Be honest, it was a tad too smokey on the dyno, needed to ramp the boost up really.

Well this a come to an end. Tax, MOT and Insurance all ran out and I've taken the engine as far as I dare in standard form.

Put it on a friend's rolling road and just pushed past the 200hp mark (ATF)


 



Pulled the engine as it is still a good runner


 



 



...because now I have a new chassis to drop the engine in. It's probably not to everyone's taste but should be interesting.


 



Anyone in need of EYC (IIRC) Panels then feel free to get in touch.

That was a cool project! Shame you disbanded it then, to start another one.

I know I am like a year late, yet it was a great read and slightly motivational too. Actually motivates me to get a 2.0 (138) block and have some fun with that... and potentially do a transplant one day myself.

Suppose this is a fitting final photo for this

 


Engine went on in the 309, only recently dropped that out to put in a 16v 2.0HDi I have. Project thread over on 306oc.co.uk .

As long as you have a dry corner to build up a motor, it's definitely the way to have a play.

Only other project is my 1.4HDi (link in my signature) thats my daily faithful, though mileage is taking its toll on it now.

That photo hurts!

Yeah, I got a shed... not massive, but should be big enough to have a play in. Going to get me a small broken petrol engine first (don't care what make) to see if I can identify what is broken. Then build it up again... just to learn.

From there I will look into getting a 2.0 138 and see if I can refurb it a bit and make it low milage again... But that is all future work, obviously.

Will keep an eye on the 1.4 of yours, as your writing style and photos are amusing me Smile

Great read, I wondered if I'd see this car on here (been researching TD swaps lately & had seen it on Mr. Lobb's dyno etc, sounded great with the VNT!)

Bit of a shame that it's been broken, but there's at least one other around & running currently and there's soon to be one more to join it. Ours started out as an '03 1.1 petrol though just to make things a bit more interesting.
(starter for 10 aside from the multiplex situation is they run a deadhead fuel rail, but hopefully get away with using the Evap line as the return because I'm dumb like a fox Wink )
