206 1.4i
When changing down to second gear the engine revs drop then increase to about 1500 before coming down again
Very disconcerting when driving as the revs don't come down fast enough and I feel the car wants to speed up rather than slow down
Any ideas please
Thanks Bobh

What year of 206 is it & is it 8 valve or 16 valve.
There has been both manual throttles & electronic fly by wire throttles used on the various years of 1.4 engines as user in the 206.
If we can narrow it down it will be easier to pinpoint the potential fault.

Hello
Thought I'd cleared this problem by replacing the Idle Air Control valve but no !
It's my daughters car but it's driving me mad
Driving it today I'll try to describe the symptoms
Car up to temperature
Accelerates fine no hesitation no loss of power
If in any gear above second and I lift my foot off the accelerator I feel the engine revs do not drop fast enough and it feels like the engine is still pulling. By braking, the revs gradually come down
If in second gear and I brake and then de clutch the revs momentarily rise to about 1500 before they drop down
So driving and changing up. No problems
Changing down it's not normal deceleration and quite disconcerting. It was not like this until the recent head gasket replacement
I'm going to change the Lambda Sensor next week in case the failed head gasket and coolant leakage has contaminated the sensor
Any help would really be appreciated- and get my daughter off my back !!!
