Hi

I have a 2000 GTI RFN with 202.000km

I parked the car at home friday, and monday morning turning the key it runs the starter turns but it dosnt fire.

I had PP2000 on this afternoon and it wont communicate with the ECU, BSI states that there might be a harness issues against the ECU.

Trying to start ecu light is on, after 1-2 sek stop light start to flash, turning the starter again the ecu light fades out within a few second.

Any ideas on where to start, fuses relays or faulty harness or is the ecu just done?

When we couldn't talk to the ECU on our '01 CC turned out it was a low amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box .. can't remember the size or position though, sorry.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the ecu connectors to see if it's a dirty connection?

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

I will look at the fuses and connectors tonight, i looked quickly into the fuse box yesterday, and it could need a bit of clean up .... so the connector is properbly the same Smile

Could be a simple fuse in the BSI, as its not normally that year in which the harsness breaks coming from the BM34

I had a look in the engine fuse box, it seems that the one part of the connector to the engine manegement fuse is "missing"

Can the fuse box be taken apart ?

I had all fuses out and all are OK, but when turning the key over to Ignition ON, the control lamp for Engine management is not lit at all.

Took the BSI box out and it looks like this ....

and the Black Connector

Is it toasted?

And will a new BSI+Engine management fix this
