Hey guys, I hope you've all had a good xmas.
My car has been cutting out lots, i made it to tesco and put some fuel in. however my fuel light wasn't even on yet (still on the last white maker) the problem seems to be okay now.
Is there a possibility that there is sludge in the tank, or that my fuel gauge is incorrect, is there anyway to amend the fuel reading?
also what are your thoughts on using redex?
(this car used to cut out before but not within a rapid succession, this problem was solved Via numerous sensors and a new BSM)

Are you getting the engine management light coming on?
Does is start straight way or do you need to leave it to cool? (If you do, it's probably the crank sensor)
Is it cutting out regularly or just every time you get low on fuel?
The only real way to check the fuel gauge is to empty the tank so you know where it should be .. which is a bit drastic. What if you fill the tank? Where is the needle then? At full or off the scale? Could be the needle has moved (or been moved!)

Might be worth removing the engine ecu connector plugs & cleaning the contact pins on both the plugs & sockets.
Electrical contactor cleaner spray OR brake cleaner will do the job.
More details on year of 206 would be helpful as the older ones have known electrical issues.

IIRC it's a multiplex. Given the amount of salt and crap that has been on the road of late, and the fact we've had weather that has been wet/dry in rapid succession I'd have a look at the earth cable to make sure it hasn't suffered any damage. When the car is cutting out, is it happening just as you are slowing down for a junction etc?
You're always welcome to bring it by and we can check it for any codes!

This is the first time I've had the fuel on the last white bar, and have had crank sensor put in last year.

It's a 1.1 52 plate, has been plagued with problems before but its been like normal so far, will check the pins as I know some of them have been tarnished in the past, many thanks

Thanks but no engine management light has came on or was on during the events if it happens again its defo worth a scan, its pretty scary when your going round a corner and your power steering stops working lol, I will give the car a once over making sure all grounds and connections are tight and fingers crossed its nothing major, as when I filled up the car seems to be working fine

check the ground from gearbox to chassis and battery as i have a 1.1 and this ground is humped, you will need to remove battery holder for the bit that conects to chassis
Happy new year too
Best of luck
