It is with great sadness, that I must report that I am forced to part ways with the car that brought me here to info. The one you see in my avatar.

Of course, I still have the cash cow that is the GTi. Very Happy

I've had the old silver car since 2002, and it's come a long way since I first got her. The worst problem I ever had, was rear drum seizure and okay, the clutch is on its way out. Not bad for 110k miles, and half of those on the MA gearbox on 17's.

But on the 25th May the family and I are re-locating and there is no room for the old girl to sit at the new place. In preparing for this move I charged the now dead battery, warmed her up (as I needed to move her) and then rev'd the crap out of her to remind me how good she sounded.

Man, she sounds soooooooo good.

Therefore with no suitable place to store her available, it is with a heavy heart that I shall consign her to the great scrapheap in the sky.

There are plenty of bits rescuable from her before she goes, so unless someone wants to buy her last minute (without wheels) for a paultry sum, then I shall strip her of the bits I can make use of on the GTi and wave her goodbye.

Parts I shall rescue:

GSR induction kit, with ITG filter
Alloys (to go on the GTi)
Non-sport SP bumper grille
Upper SP grille
Bonnet vent SP grille
Smoked Crystal Fronts
Smoked LED's rear
Longlife exhaust (only done about 1k)

If there's time, I'll try and get the 120A alternator off.

If anyone wants anything else, let me know.

It does indeed, caused such a huge rift in the forums membership - I recall things getting very heated at points.

I got the arguments both sides and for me it did what it was advertised to do, just not as much as was sited by the subsequently discredited dyno team.

The drain pipe tubing was quite hilarious though, and I never did get the kit re-attached to the body properly after the rusty old bracket Peter used was removed.

If your battery and fuse boxes are in good condition (the clips on mine are snapped) I would be interested?

Battery is no problem. But I think your fuse box is going to be different. The Silver Bullet is a pre-plex 8v from the year 2000.

That's a good point and one that I also thought about mere minutes after replying! I would still be interested in the battery box though depending on price and postage. I have a UK address that it could be sent to so no need to worry about international postage for a plastic box!
