I have a 2005 Peugeot 206 1.3

For the past couple of months the EML light has been coming on and off.
I first noticed the amber light come on whilst on a dual carriageway one morning. Booked it into a garage to be looked at later that week but in the meantime the light went out even I started the car up one morning.

So cancelled the appointment and it drove fine for the next few weeks until it came on again, one hot day whilst on a dual carriageway again.
So I immediately took it into my local garage who plugged it in to the diagnostics for a quick look but it failed to retrieve a fault code.

They said it could be a faulty injector or something to do with an airflow sensor but said if the car was driving fine then it was ok. They reset the computer and extinguished the light.

All was ok for a good few weeks again until it reappeared. So booked my car back into the garage for a full service and to have this checked over. Sod's law, inbetween making the appointment and the day it was due in, the light went out again on start up one morning!

When I took it into the garage for the service and check over they couldn't find a thing wrong and said it could have been because it was overdue a service!
It was then ok again for a few weeks but now it has reappeared!

It seems completely random, the car is driving fine, usually it comes on when the weather is hot but not always.

This seems to be baffling everyone

Well it's nothing to do with needing a service.

1.3? Did you mean 1.4?

If they are failing to retrieve a code, then their diagnostic isn't Peugeot compatible ... the code will be in the ECU .. they just can't get to it.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

I agree with Gazza,to get a proper diagnostic, you need to see a garage who use Peugeot Planet 2000,so you can get the code, even if the light goes on,that does not mean the fault is gone,it will be stored in the ECU,but since you mentioned that this fault appear in the hot weather,I would suspect that you have a problem with the EVAP system, maybe the canister solenoid or a leak in the system.
