Dunno if anyone interested - but found the fault - fuse F14 was blowing as at some time in the past - a black box had been fitted into the OBD loom. Seems the box had become faulty - and had caused a short - removed the box - changed the fuse again - and working.

Thanks to all - and gazza82 for the fuse diagram

It's all good - now at least can get the fault code read - my crappy reader is basically good for nothing - so MOT man will check....

Hopefully / probably a sensor - and easy fixed.........car lives to fight another day.........

I ended up buying PP2000 and the Lexia 3 cables for our 2001 206CC .. but I also had a Sealey diagnostic that was PSA compatible (did Renault too!). That one cost a bit but it saved me a wodge of money as the local Pug dealer wanted £80 + VAT a time to check .. even if it took 5 mins! 3 checks and it paid for itself (yup it was over £200 a few years back .. no longer available now unfortunately)

One Pug specialist I went to put my 2002 1.4 hdi on his Snap-On to sort out an airbag light (squib had failed!) but even he had problems connecting .. he was changing the tyres at the time and didn't charge me for the diag time!

With the older non-plex cars the diagnostics were "pug" customised .. when they moved to the multiplex in 2002 they updated it but you still can't get to the BSI unless you get PP2000. And they bury good stuff there!

The newer PSA stuff is even worse for home diagnostics, up to date Diagbox required with a full chip interface & it must be online with Peugeot server to gain access to the good stuff which means you have to purchase an access token.

For a 206 Planet is worth picking up, you can always do other PSA Peugeot / Citroen readings for friends to gain a beer or two.

MOT man could connect - dunno what he uses - but off side rear sensor has died.....new sensor arriving today - so should be final part in the saga - although someone has already butchered the sensor bolt - as the head is chewed - happy days.... Sad

any tips?

head on this one looks well chewed - dunno if there is any chance to get any purchase on it - I have surface drive spanners - but even they looked like no good...

dunno if I can break away the old sensor to help - or just get straight on with the vice grips?

guess I will find out tonight..........

Chisel the old sensor away as its knackered anyway, then plenty of penetrating fluid on the bolt & maybe some heat to free it off.

it actually came away no problem in the end - unlike the sensor that really did not want to give up it's grip on the backplate....

Happy days - hammered old one out - cleaned up the hole - new one fitted and no more warning light...........

Old Pug lives again..............
