Hi all, just thought I'd write up my experience with the dreaded P1160/1161 etc codes regarding throttle body. This happened just after I'd cleaned the TB as it was filthy, was pretty worried but always planned to get my Diagbox working and see what the proper gear had to say on the matter.

This afternoon just managed to get it up & running and, in addition to flagging multiple historic codes with the AC & display unit, it also found more codes in the engine ECU (relating to the cooling fan, which is on my list) that my generic Launch reader didn't see.

Anyhow before I ramble on too much, what seems to have cured it is resetting/relearning the auto-adaptives in the engine ECU. This makes sense to me since the ECU will have learned the throttle body over time and as it got gradually caked up, corrected as best it could. Then when I've cleaned it, things have changed to such a degree that the ECU threw a wobbly and put us in limp mode when the engine warmed up.

Still to test drive and see if the thing stays fixed (as well as complete the relearn procedure regarding injector cut) but for now I'm calling a win!

TL:DR if you clean your TB and then have limp mode and all manner of codes relating to the TB, get it on PP2K and have the adaptives reset before spending on a replacement TB that may cause the same problem depending how clean it is!
