Hello,

I have an 1.4 petrol 206 from 2008, and I wanted to retrofit CC in it.
I got the Cruise control, which can be fit under the turning signal without an issue.
The car, by factory default has all the switches and cabling at the pedals.

When I checked how to fit it, I read tons of articles and seems like all should be fine.

The last step would be to enable the CC stuffs in the ECU.
I found a chop shop who had PP2000 (people afraid to acknowledge around here in Hungary haha), and when he tried to enable, it wasn't available in the ECU.

He told me, the later manufactured cars were equiped with a downgraded ECU, which excluded all extra functions, for the sole purpose not to be able to retrofit stuff easily.
Seems like mine is similar Sad

Do you know if there's any way to still retrofit CC?
If not I'll just sell the stuff I bought for it.

I live in Budapest, Hungary.

Cheers,
Szabi

IIRC as its been a few years since I tinkered with 206s & Planet - some of the engine ecu fitted to the 206 had the cruise control function locked out in the engine ecu software so it couldn't be enabled.

Cruise control needs to be enabled in both the BSI & engine ecu to work.

Yeah that's the issue, it can't be enabled at the moment.
So that means, if they are locked out, there's now way to unlock/flash/whatever them to be available? Means, no CC for me? Sad

It maybe able to be flashed with another tool to rewrite engine ecu software from something like a 307 with the same engine but I've never attempted it so more research will be needed online.

OR engine ecu swop with a suitable unit but you would have to recode it for the immobiliser so try & get the VIN from the doner vehicle or get a free running or unlocked ecu.

If I get a donor ECU, and if it won't work anyhow, can I just simply put my original one back and the car won't be bricked?
Sounds like something I could ruin the whole vehicle with Very Happy :D

Instead of PP2000, try with Lexia (for Citroens) and select Citroen C2 for your 206 (this is e.g. how I successfully programmed new keys, because PP2000 failed in that regard).
The older SW version you have, the better.

This loong thread mentions that Peugeot disabled the ECU cruise control switch in their newer PP2000 software, due to Renault having some fatal incidents with their cruise control, so people can no longer retrofit it.
Obtaining a very old version of PP2000 might also help in changing the "now-locked" features of an ECU.

If all of the above fails for you, I'll try to explain how to go down the ECU flashing route, but with varying success.

2.0 HDi, year 2000 (E's restin')
Red GTi 180, year 2004 (VorTechS' sEXy Beast (being) remasteRed)
Blue GTi 180, year 2004 (in hibernation after endless driving fun in 2019, queued for "cambelt in tight spaces")
Missus' 1.6 16v CC, year 2007 (L-plates to P-plates to NO-plates, but now she wants powwer:))
£50 1.4 HDi, year 2002 (seatless transporter, SORNed, rust needs patching)

GTC VXR (sold)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to ask around for Lexia or older PP2000.
Finding this guy was already took way too long, but who knows Very Happy

I'm not sure if it's locked out in the SW itself, or is it not even included in the ECU.
The guy seemed sure about how to enable the CC stuff, so I believe his PP2000 should've been able to enable.
Worth a try anyway.

If the flashing stuff is quite random, I'll just live without CC. Would be fun to have, but considering how unlucky usually I am, I won't brick my car Very Happy
