Cheers SGP - the wheels are good but i need to check out my spare wheel which is also a goodwood style wheel, If the centres are in better condition i'll give that a refurb as well to match the rest and just choose the worst looking one to replace it with. So i'll see what happens there Smile

And I won a 309 Goodwood brochure off ebay too a few days ago which arrived very quickly! This is the first one i've seen on ebay since October so i made sure I won it Laughing

£21 for an 18yr old piece of paper is pretty steep but I aint gonna get one otherwise Sad Laughing

Well, i got fed up trying to put chrome vinyl on the bumper inserts...SO! I needed a front set of inserts fairly pronto so i got some from pug..

 


...with some discount of which i can't figure out why although i did mention i was a PSOOC member but IIRC...nobody has been there before with PSOOC membership and they buffed my letter i sent to them last year. Anyway...

I thought, well i might as well compare my finish and peugeot's finish and see if it's close, if it is, i'll order up the rear strips.

Believe it or not my one is on the right and Peugeot gear is on the left!

 


So it looks like i'll just order the rear ones and call it a day. The length of these strips just aren't long enough for the sides! Not to mention the different clips of course. BOO!

Well as above i ordered up some new front chrome mouldings, i've ordered ONE rear chome mouldling - the other is NLA but sourcing it from Belgium/Holland hopefully Cool

Today the car got taxed again and i swapped the battery from the Miami into this one because it's a proper varta ! So it will look better for showing purposes.

There's tiny spots of surface rust in the engine bay which i want to attend to, so i got some paint mixed up and hopefully it's a good match!

I then gave the old mats a good clean and treated them to some autoglym vinyl and rubber care to start building up a good layer of protection on them. So hopefully by the shows they'll be gleaming and looking brand new Very Happy

The next task on the list was to fit the original head unit and cd changer controller. I started from the back of the car, removing the old pioneer cd changer lead and at the same time ran the original cable down the car, and when i got to the driver's side i popped the side panel out of the centre console and was faced with this... Sad

 


 


It was all going so well!! Rolling On The Floor Laughing I am awaiting a reply from someone to see if they have a spare connector block. In the mean time i'll just need to wait....

....which is s**te. Thumbs Up


So the next thing on the list is to clean the leather and treat it with the leather care colour restoring balm. I also want to give the boot carpet a good clean as well.

I am going to inspect the spare wheel and see what condition it's in, if it's better than my "worst" current wheel on the car than i'll see about using that instead

I'll remove the front bumper and hopefully the new front bumper inserts will go on with ease! I'll remove the side ones and get them on too.

Plenty plenty still to do...

Cheers bud! It's getting there, it's all just loads of very little things but it'll make a big difference down the line. EG the painting of the battery tray will be a job well done as the next job for the miami is to do that...i'll be catching it whilst it's just solid and no more Razz

The wiring a simple fix but it'll be time consuming that's all. I already foresaw that it would take a bit of guessing of where and how to route the wire for the cd changer controller because it goes on the right hand side of the driver i believe Smile So it's a bit of a bits of dash off job to feed it through. 309's and 205's are so easy to take apart and put together though from what i've found so far so it should be ok to do.

No more plans to buy more classic pugs. These 2 will keep me busy for a VERY long time Smile

lol. with the rate youre going at it, i doubt itll take you too long. you seem to know your way around stripping and rebuilding now. should get your own company set up Razz .

wiring is always a time consuming nightmare. and thats coming from a spark. lol.

i cant wait to see the cars when theyre done man. dealership quality at its best. we all know what youre like when it comes to a beautiful finish. Very Happy

Nah! I want to get the rear axle re-built and the underside re-rust proofed as it was done 5 or 6 years ago but i might as well get it re-newed at the same time. I wont be doing this till next year though!

haha..hardly dealership quality but thanks for the vote of confidence Razz

I decided to take myself out of the interior today as I was getting no-where fast. The leather care products i bought did a good job of making the leather feel nice and soft again by injecting a bit of moisture in them! However the colour enhancement wasn't as good as i thought it was going to be. It's better, but not by miles!

So i whipped out the battery and set about cleaning up this area in general!

 


to get into the area better i decided to take the brackets off the power steering reservoir so i could move it to get my hands in about there to clean it. It was also clear that the reservoir itself was totally minging so i cleaned it and FYI a toothpick works so well to get between the nooks n crannies in the letters Razz

 


I got the ol' wire brush drill attachment out...

 


...then sanded the surface down and then hit it with some fresh primer and sort of half way up on the inner wing where there was also rust.

 


 


Then some lovely paint which is a cracking match Smile

 


 


Between coats i kept myself busy in the engine bay and started getting rid of extra grime that was preventing the engine looking even cleaner!

And how it is just now. It's not perfect but i've definitely managed to get the worst off and it's looking more presentable! Ideally i need to take the headlights and things out to get in and around all the other bits i want to get at too, along with the air intake to get to the bulk head for a clean and whatever i can't get at behind all that plastic! I've still not tackled the alternator either which could do with a clean and i'll see how the metal takes to some light sanding Cool

 


 


 


Tomorrow will involve bits as said above and taking all the masking away to hopefully see a nice blend of old and new paint. There seemed to be an un-noticeable difference when dry!? but no doubt when i remove everything it'll be a different story! :)) The good thing about that area is that the battery and power steering reservoir hide loads anyway Smile

Well it's dried up and looks a treat, i'm very happy with the paint match it couldn't have been more spot on! Very Happy Makes life easier.

Just need to hook everything back up and continue cleaning and continue polishing.

Another bit sorted Wink will be a minter once your done, why did you go to pug for those trim piece's your attempt was so much better. did you apply rust preventer to the battery tray? not short cutting are you Laughing
