205 1600 8v GTi, Track Toy Trauma, PatcHes - Driving again after 10 years since it was last on the road!

Dill there's some KUrust under the primer Very Happy

ED - no idea! I had other bits on the inner wings to spray anyway. TBH i didn't realise that it was just those 2 bolts, I thought there was more to it than that.

I'm not good in engine bays but i can make them look nice Laughing

More pictures! Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Today i switched over the little covers on the fog lights from the miami to the goodwood to freshen up the front end. Didn't bother changing the whole lot as the little connectors are such a fiddle!

Before

After

I probably won't keep them on permanently, it's purely for showing purposes this summer and when the miami get's to a pristine state it will get them back! Laughing

I inspected that spare wheel which looked great at first bit it was even more corroded in the middle than the others! Looked promising too from this picture.

A few pics of the under-side's condition whilst i was under there Cool Cool Cool

Then i knitted a jumper for her Laughing ....

...so i could freshen up the tow bar. You can sort of see how it used to look before.

And now

I also started doing the works on the wiper arms. One was badly chipped on the front and they generally looked a little tired. So for all the time it took to do on the Miami i thought this deserves a treat too. Freshens things up a bit so it does. The wee bracket is for the power steering reservoir which was starting to rust and has been KUrusted and is now in primer as below.

haha... Razz Nah...it was used to put on the ground when we painted the fence so it was an ideal thing to cover everything instead of using paper! Very Happy

Cheers Howey Smile

Well i've been saving to get the door and all the other bits fixed since around november so it's taken time from that point of view. Everything else has been little cheap things. eg the painting i've been doing, side strips are cheap second hand ( 25 delivered roughly!) the vinyl was £8, rear lights were £20. So I try and save money where possible and generally parts for these old Peugeot's are cheap hence why they are so popular as projects. Because of the polished lip i think a refurb on the wheels will be upwards of £250 which I won't be doing just now but the 100% free refurb on them has certainly prettied them up for now. I already had sandpaper lying around so the job was a go-er!

Had a meeting today and we went to show a guy where Ecosse lived! Low and behold it was open for a rolling road day so i went in for a peek at my car and took a few pictures! Very Happy

The bonnet's done.

The spoiler's done.

And here's a few others showing how it is to date. A lot more filler than i thought but some of them are the smallest of dents! example the one on the boot lid was hardly noticeable but at least it will look spot on. I am very happy with the progress so far. They only started things late on Tuesday! Smile

The original doors dents were popped out and filled as the door i bought had a new skin on it which was rusty underneath! So that was that!

The roof had a few very deep scratches and dents.

Very Happy

Cheers! It's a nice wee car that you've got there, a lot of potential. If you're going oem though you will need those pepperpots! Cheaper tyres! I know of a guy who has LOADS of them and probably just wants rid of them from the way he's talking.

Affordability and OEM can go hand in hand if you play your cards right although you might find that you're a lot pickier about things just like i have!

It's getting a full re-spray wagsy. It was working out to be a very expensive bill for all the little things i wanted done and it was only for 2 sides of the car and the spoiler minus a bit on a door and the front driver's wing. Although the paint was in pretty good nick, the colour match might have been fine but a lot of the surface is very orange peeled and it would be too much faffing about trying to blend it in, OR it could have been re-sprayed to match the orange peel which would have looked GASH and it's not what i'd have wanted at all.

So, in short it wasn't working out to cost THAT much extra to get the whole car done ie...roof (a few deep scratches as mentioned), the bonnet (stone chipped and slight dent) boot lid, wing and the whole of the driver's door done. So i thought i might as well get it done right and i'm hoping it will look so much better for it!
