I'm thinking now is a good time to sell my GTi.
Its just passed the MOT & has been taxed for a year.

However I would like more power without going down the modifications route.

Reasons to keep:
I know that it it'll be good for a long time since the engine was rebuilt 10k miles ago, I've replaced pretty much everything Laughing
Has new good tyres.
Is a nice colour Razz

Reasons to sell:
Engine rebuild so reassurance to buyers.
Has 4 months left of warranty on the engine.
Would like more power,
Not fuel friendly.
Dealership has offered me a good price.
Has been my 2nd 206

There are more reasons but I'm short on time so havn't listed them all.

I really don't know what to do Sad

Update:
The 206 is now listed for sale on Piston heads & eBay.

If you are bored with Peugeot then 'no' to getting a 180.

If you like the 206 and are in a position to afford a 180, then 'yes'.

There are so many different cars for your money these days, so you can either stick with what you know or expand your mechanical knowledge elsewhere!

Either way, you are a dedicated 206info member so you're staying here lol.

Its not that I am bored with Peugeot its more of losing faith in French cars.
My dad always buys German cars, currently has 2 Audi's.
One is a 2002 A6 1.9TDi, that has had minimal if no problems in the 5 years he's had it. Also the A4 I shared with him before my 206's went on to 230,000 miles with no issues.
However his TT has had loads of problems, ABS, ESP & now an EML.
That is costing over £1k to fix (in just parts)

So if I do move on from 206's what else is a good buy? Budget of £4k

I'm going for Honda or VW next. I don't think I could buy another peugeot again. It's not that I don't like mine it's just that I find the Japs and VW have better build quality.
If your happy with peugeots then go for it, the 180, for all it's bad habits is a great car! Very Happy

Budget of £4k - get a 180. If your after a bit of power, then I can't see or think of (feel free to correct me) any other car that you can get for that price, with a similar spec. Potentially a 2003/4/5 plate car, around 40k on the clock and with the power it has. Granted, you could get a much quicker car, but I imagine it would have to be older.

Only downside, in my eyes, is insurance costs. But, if you find yourself a decent deal, you could come up trumps and have a little bit of spare cash to help out.

Your example of your Dads TT above highlights what Jamie has said. You could get a 180 and it be faultless. Its like that with any car (your gti for example!).

I've never got brand loyalty with cars (not that i'm knocking it!) have a change!
for 4k......i'd have a look at a Civic Type R (bit chavvy in my opinion but cheap and fun)
Could go mad and get an imported Impreza, Evo, Celica......
Or a corolla tsport as a curve ball.

This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Is that 4k plus insurance? And is it just power you're after?

I agree, but I doubt you could get one with lowish miles on for that price.

Good curve ball too.

Thats what I was thinking, but a Civic Type R is a bit like a Saxo now Sad
I would quite like something with a turbo.
I do a fair bit of driving but I can cut back a lot if I need to. Ideally it needs at least 30mpg over 150bhp, 4 seats & a half decent boot.

Just writing up an advert for my car...

What are the ground rules, I'm guessing you have an age limit and mileage limit, always a good starting point to go with your budget. Otherwise your just going to get lists of knackered old skylines and impreza's with 4000000bhp for £2995 ono.
I know alot of people won't agree but instead of laying out 4k i'd finance up something a year or so old and have an easy life!
