Very similar to my post the other day, only this time it's not just reassurance I need... I really am confused!
How do you lift both back wheels safely? I'm guessing I'de have to chock the front wheels heavily and leave the car in gear... but would that be sufficient?? Or is it a case of doing one wheel at a time? That'll take forever

haha, I use a big plate jack and just pop two tyres either side so if it drops itl land on them, the jacks safe as though is a trolley jack with the big head never gave me any problems.

You'll find that's the torsion bar and it's cetainly not designed to take a load equal to the whole weight of the rear end!
Using a trolley jack with a block of timber between it and the car on the end of each box section under the floor is fine to lift the rear end as it's so light.

no i wansnt on about the torsion bar I was on about the bit further down just passed where my back box ends, not the torsion bar because as you said it isn't designed to take that weight, the way you have described will work just as well though.
