I was thinking of lowering my torsion bars myself but I'm not overly confident with it... So I was wondering if anyone knows how much it should cost to get it done by a mechanic?
I have been and got a quote already and the guy I talked to told me it would cost £150... which seemed abit extortionate. Does anyone know if thats a regular asking price?

I'd say £150 is fine. It can take a long time to do if the bars are seized up.

Yeh that How To does look really good. Its also a case of I don't really have all the stuff I need and buying it all seems pointless as I'm up and down the country quite often / don't have anywhere to store it... I'm also moving back up to Carlisle on Wednesday or Thursday and then I really won't have anything at all to help.
How long would you say it would take to do the torsion bars without having the knowledge from doing them before? I expect if I do give it ago I'm going to find quite a few seized up bits.. fun fun

I think I'm majorly naive into what goes into lowering a torsion bar... I thought with a mechanic, they'd have all the tools etc and the only thing you'd really be paying for is the labour. £150 seems nuts if it is only labour? That works out at say... £30 an hour for 5 hours labour.. Think i'm missing something.

I've had a second thought here, sometimes garages will charge around £200 to do front suspension and torsion bars. So aye, 150 just for rear could be considered quite dear.

No problem mate, to adjust the torsion bars is easy its just unsizing them is the problem, Ive just lowered willhotdogs 206 on saturday and the hole car took me a good 6hrs and atlest 4hrs was for the rear, and thats with all the tools, ramp, bunners, pullers and 12yrs experance! my work would charge £50 + VAT an hour until it was done!
I do all my work on weekends thats why i can do it alot less!
