Hi,
Need to desperately service the 206, hasn't been done for a while. Normally pay a garage to do it but as the car has decreased in value I can't warrant paying their prices.
What type of oil and any good makes worth using? What qty do I need for a full oil change? Have used (I think) mobil1 in in the past. Going to Halfords in the morning, anything there worth getting?
Also, need rear brake pads, do Halfords sell these too? Are they worth getting?
Many thanks,

Get a haynes manual to help with the servicing. Have you got the relevant tools for spark plugs ect? Regardless of the cost of the car, surely its better to keep it serviced so the car/engine is in its best health possible.
EDIT: A service is approx £150!!!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, you're right it does need to be kept in order (my other 2 cars, house extension and two babies seem to keep me quite busy though).
I've got a reasonable tool set as the other two cars are 45years and 36years old and take a lot of maintainence to keep them on the road (also had a dabble in the 206 engine bay to fix a couple of issues, just not done oil yet).
Many thanks,

With plugs, don't go NGK, as I've heard bad things. Oil, not sure on, but if its a gti I used to use 10w40. Haynes Manual will cover most parts ect.

Total Quartz 9000 5W40 oil (recommended by Peugeot)
Euro Car Parts do everything else such as oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs etc. They are easy and cheap cars to service.

I wouldn't be buying it from Halfords unless you have a trade card otherwise it's far too expensive.
Oil wise- I use Halfords own brand 5W40 fully synthetic. works out about £18 for that. oil filter about £2, airfilter K&N so a wash and re-oil.

Castrol Edge oil is cheaper at Halfords than at Euro Car Parts....so sometimes it's actually cheaper!
