My wife 206 gti has started to rough running/increased revs/engine management light when being started from cold? Any ideas chaps?

plugging into computer will most likely give the fault as engine light has been on etc.

Hydraulic lifters or coil pack are normal problems...if it will start but only run with throttle I'd blame the idle control valve...
