Right i need to get rid of the standard air box as the induction point is far to low for my intended use, im going to be doing a few few water splashes ect
I have a cone filter here and im wondering where to fit it, directly to the TB or before the second air box thing
The car is a 1.6 8v XS 2000
Please help, Sam.

directly on the TB produces a big noise and the filter gets very hot there..... i tried. lol
tbh if its for performance then go for a panel filter. much better.

a cone will provide you will less protection. The standard system has a foam pipe to absorb water. Its also in the wheel arch and has a long way to travel. I drove in a ford with the water coming over the bonnet and it was fine. if i had a cone filter on it would have killed it

Well last time i drove through anything deep it destroyed the cardboard filter and got stuck in the throttle body.
So mounting to the TB with a cold air feed would be ok?
Sam.

how deep? if you use a cold air feed its just going to give the water a direct path to your engine. The standard intake means the water has to come down through the top of the arch, round a bend then back up again into the airbox.
you could always put some foam sponge inside the airbox to offer better protection.

even with a cone and cold air feed you still wont be getting any increase. induction kit increasing performance is a myth really. they are jsut for noise.

just for your benifit replace the standard pipe from the bottom of the airbox as that is the restrictive part of the system. i did and found it made a difference.

I dont want the increase in power as such....
I just want to have less risk of sucking up water.
Noise would be nice but thats not my aim..
Sam.

they do increase throttle response abit as well though. Just get a K&N panel filter and use the standard set up, ive had to replace my pipe though as water kept getting in somehow, just used an assortment of old rainwater pipes that where lying around site, looks a proper job now!!

the standard airbox will offer the most protection. check the intake pipe below the airbox to make sure there is not a rip in the fabric. as tis just foam inside that
EDIT: if that is not good enough. then you may need to consider a Land Rover...

is this directed at me? on mie the plastic was feck completely, hence why ive re fitted all now, the pipe ends up just behind the passenger head light, you would have to go through some serious deep water very slow to fill it i think!

I agree with ExoVyper. Snorkel it if you are doing some serious underwater driving. Please share with us what you are going to be doing in a 206 that involves a lot of water
