Im wanting to have my car lowered front and back by about 40mm but i have no idea where is best/cheapest and distances so if anyone in the Lincolnshire area could post up here where they got their car lowered and what prices that would be great
Im only looking at springs as coilovers are abit out of the price range. And is it just springs ill need or anything else? Complete noob to lowering
Thanks

There's a difference between doing it on a budget and doing it with uprating loads of parts while you are at it.
Going 40mm will be fine on standard shocks, any further and new shocks will be needed. You should also replace the drop links while you are at it as they are a b*****d to get off sometimes especially if they have been on for ages.
So to answer your question, at the minimum just springs are fine but to improve the ride upgrading shocks would be good as well.

i like to change shocks and springs, but just two front springs on the front and just adjust the torsion bar you can get away with 30-40mm i on a very tight budget imo.
as above for the price droplinks cost, might aswell change them too.
