When i start my car, when it is idling, there is a rattling/tapping sound from the driver sidre.

The noise gets louder when i am acclertating over 1500 rpm.

Hope u guys can help me.

belt tensioner / belt guider i would look at 1st.


water pumps can cause this noise too if bearing gone.

Can be a number of things.

First of all what engine is in your 206?

Could be tappets, or a worn belt plus a few other things.

i have a 2litre HDi

am not used to cars am a beginner:(

I have just noticed the sound recently. i filled it up with oil today incase that was the problem.

will be the crankshaft pulley if its the 2.0 hdi that makes loud tapping noise mines doing it now too probably needs pulley done again

its the bottom pulley can see it if you look by drivers wheel can get two types cheap ones £40 better ones bout £80 can get them on ebay or peugeot main dealers better ones meant to last lot longer, yeah any garage or mechanic should do it easy think mine was about £130 in total fitted. They are a common known fault on the 2.0 hdi's

so for it and be fitted was £130

The sound does sound louder when ear was nearer the front wheel.

yep may be more phone or ask around at garages see prices wouldnt worry to much ive only had mine done once mines almost always done it in 3 years of me having it and its really high milliage , but is best to get it done

yeah just a pulley noise like i said mines been doin that almost 3 years and i do loadsa millage will be alrit i got same problem in not even thinking bout gettin it done till after x mas lol cant afford it at moment
