how can i tell if they need to replace?
atm i can hear high pitch noise coming from the back at all time and all speed, flat road/ bumpy road.
i suspect the bearing is gone, is that possible?

Jack up the rear and spin each wheel by hand to listen for any noise and check for any play.

That sounds familiar - I've just had mine done. I was getting a droning noise from the back from about 35mph upwards.

They can go for a long time being noisy without causing a problem, although they can get hot. Mine showed up at the MOT. If you can hear the familiar drone then they are on their way, but depends on how many long journeys you do, how soon you want to change them. I sold my last car knowing that the bearings were noisy, but unless you had the rear load space cover (estate) open, you couldn't hear it.
Its a fairly easy DIY job, although getting the old bearings out can be a pain.

Yep sounds like its gone.
Cost me £30 including parts to get changed

Not sure if its a wheel bearing gone in this case, they dont normally make a 'high pitched noise' when gone, more of a 'droning' noise.........might be one of the shoe retaining springs come adrift inside the drum, or if its a disc brake you might have a small road chipping caught between the disc and the caliper causing the noise in which case try reversing a little way to see if it dislodges.

problem found. nothing wrong with the bearing but is one of the nut in my battery box is loosen, keep rubbing against the metal battery tray
