Surely if you love it, it doesn't matter what other people think.
At the end of the day, the 206 is a budget car that's shoddily built, but we love them. If you love yours, pay them no attention

I enjoy mine too!!.
It has its qurks and little niggles but never the less makes me smile more than it makes me sad!!.
Mines the 180 flavor but its from the GTI stable just the same.
Got some Morettes ready for her and other bits and bobs, so when the weather picks up a bit she will be having a bit of TLC !!.
Carry on enjoying yours and sod what other people say or think!!!

Its true, i shouldn't care what others think, i do love the GTI, does anyone know how the 3.5 inch scorpion back box will sound on the GTI or any suggestions of other decent back boxes that aren't 'chavvy'

I love mine too. But i've noticed what you mean. I mentioned to someone i had one and they went "Uuurgh a 206"
A long time ago i remember seeing the phrase "It's a Peugeot thing, you wouldn't understand" and that summed it up well for me.
Doesn't matter what other people think, it's not their car. And i bet most of the people who avoid them like the plague havent ever driven one.

Generally it's:
"what car do you drive?"
"a 206"
"....oh"
then a mate will go
"yeah, but you haven't seen his, reserve your judgement".
People hear 206 and think of some crappy 12 year old shed, but when they actually see a nice one, their opinion changes.

That's exactly what happens to me Dabamash
The first one i rode in was about 4 years ago when i made a friend in college who owned a 51 plate lx in black. Immediately fell in love with it and HAD to buy one.
Owned 4 since then (liked my first but sold it, 2nd too slow, 3rd was the same as the first but older and too slow after owning a Golf GTI so then decided to buy my 4th (a 206 GTi) and love it to bits.

yep, love mine so much i gave up my 307 project to have it
even now i've got a fully paid for company motor, i still have the GTi!
I still believe they are underrated by lots purely because its a French motor.

Simply because it wasn't as exciting as the 25 / 106 / 306. That doesn't mean it was a bad car though. They were good cars still but people over look that fact.
