Hi there,

My 206 1.4 (53 reg) petrol has this problem - the revs dip from say 10k to 6k for 2-3 seconds when idling. This is intermittent - some journeys it doesn't happen at all, sometimes it happens all the time.

Also - when it's at its worst - the power fails - I put my foot down in 2nd gear to accelerate, and it basically sits there, not conking out, but revs go static (or even down).

Also - moreso recently (problem has been happening about 4 weeks now) - power on running at revs of say 25k the car shudders as though the engine is not pushing it forward for a split second, then continues.

The local mechanics have tried to fix it twice now - costing a neat 180 quid... they have changed the engine temperature sensor (made no difference) and the stepper motor (made no difference).

A mate thought it might be the air flow meter, but this happens at idling, which made the mechanic think it was not this...

I wanted to ask you lot to see if you have any clues what I can suggest to the mechanics? I am clearly thinking of taking it to Peugeot now to get it sorted, but your advice and thoughts much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Gear

PS I couldn't find anything like this on a search, but frankly have no idea what to search for so apologies if this is a well known problem.

Might be an idea to take it to the local Peugeot main dealer.

The BSI & also engine ecu software has been updated a few times since 2003.

It might be worth connecting it up to Peugeot planet, seeing if there's any fault codes stored in the BSI & ecu & then updating both lot's of software.

Thanks - I may well take it to Peugeot - anything specific you think I should rule out?
