Hi there,
probably my 1st post since the server crashed & wiped everything, so bear with me ...
Used to have a 2.0 hdi xsi, that did me proud for 3 years & 100k, but it developed a misfire at 1800rpm and cost me a HP & LP fuel pump, 4 x injectors & a clutch towards the end of its life, which kinda put me off dervs!!
However, im currently doing 600 miles a week (minimum) in my 330i and the cost is starting to get a bit daft at 29mpg.
As such, im looking at another 206, purely as they are cheaper than the usual VAG stuff. And they drive nicer
So, tell me all you know about the Gti Hdi please, i hear about issues with FAP & Dual mass flywheels/clutches/turbos.
Info & costs to replace when they break please.

Not had my hdi gti long (2 weeks). It averaged 44mpg on first tank of mainly slow traffic and a bit of motorway. (the car showed 53mpg so way off the actual).
I bought a lemon and had to put new brakes all round (discs and pads). It had a broken coil spring and various other niggles. I currently have an UNBLOCK DIESEL FILTER warning but having had the fault code read it relates to a fuel cap sensor (£63 from Pug).
Coming from a large estate it's definitely different and the rides a bit firmer. Overall though I'm liking it and don't mind getting my hands dirty to sort the little niggles out.

I am sure the dual mass flywheel (or something similar) is a complete ballache if it goes. Also the FAP can be a complete d*ck as well.
Otherwise its quite a good car. Got lots of little goodies and is 110bhp as standard.

My 330i has 231bhp and my Clio Trophy 175, so im not likely to get too excited about 110bhp 55mpg is more interesting though!!
What sort of cost are we talking about to replace a DMF/clutch?
RS Tuning quoted me £400 to remap/remove the DPF and i can just get a straight pipe to remove the actual filter easy enough, but a clutch change isnt something i fancy doing on the drive tbh, so id have to factor that into running costs, ie pay someone to do it ...

As standard. Implying, add a bigger FMIC and re-map. This = decent torque figures whilst retaining most of the fuel economy.

It's booked at a 10hour job to change it, because the engine has to come out.
I'd avoid the 1.6HDi tbh.

I like this idea.
Although 90 miles a day commute down the M3 requires mpg's 1st & foremost. And reliability!! Which is the bit im slightly concerned about at the moment.

Most garages charge around £50. Peugeot Carlisle charge £86 an hour.
So around 500-860.

so say clutch can be converted to singla mass. will feel a bit lumpy but sould be alot better for wear and lasting. and if your thinking of a map then it will kill the dual in no time.
low milage stuff is ok but when stuff needs replacing then i think it gets pretty dear not unless you look at one with it all done.

£1300 buys a hell of a lot of petrol for my 330!!
