Hi
I'm currently watching an auction for some Eolys fluid. My car is nearing the mileage and although no warnings yet if it's cheap enough I'll buy it and put it in the garage until needed. Only problem is I've been told there are several kinds of the fluid that could go In my car. Can anyone advise which I need.
My cars a 2004 Pug 206 GTI HDI.

The fluid is wierd stuff. There is no real service intival for it. The system is strange and works on burning off harmful contaminents. If u do lots of short journeys these will build up and use the fluid sooner. If u do alot of motorway miles then the engine heats the system and burns it properly. It is only something u need to do when u run low, as it is so expensive for the kit to do it yourself and may not even need doing.

Just make sure you push the car hard enough once in a while it should burn it away nicely. I didn't think there was a definite service interval for it, as staz said above. It was more something you did if it started to go wrong.

No it won't, optimum conditions for regeneration = approx 50-60, high gear, low revs

Why couldn't you post earlier so there was no need for me to have a rough guess and get it wrong? My quick google search must have come up with information from some right idiots

booting the a**e off it works for heating up the CAT on petrol, if the DPF on a diesel is blocked then hooring it about just makes it worse

Idiots not brimming the fuel tank & running the diesel down till the tank is low again is what uses all the Eolys fluid up.
Every time the fuel cap is removed when you put diesel in your tank the system squirts a shot of Eolys fluid in.
If the system is used CORRECTLY the Eolys fluid will last a very long time before needing topping up

It only injects enough fluid to match the amount of diesel being put into the tank

I always fill up to the brim due to the mileage I cover. The auction ended at around £40 for a full refil kit but on looking back there have been others at similar price.

If you buy it yourself, I'd get a garage to top it up, it is canceratic after all.
