I tighetened the bleed screw (the one near the thermostat housing) and the bloody thing went SNAP and now won't tighten (threads are knackered!! Does anyone know what the part is called where the screw goes into and if i can get it from the likes of euro car parts etc ar is it a scrappy job?? Pic below, its the bolt under the green plug! Just thinking does anyone think i could rebore it and bang a bolt in there?
Web Page Name
Thanks in advance!

My cap just disapeared (fell off my chuggy diesel). I used a dust cap off my wheels, worked like a treat.
*edit*
I just saw your pic, ignore me.

Yeah that would have done for the rear one, just been looking at the actual bleed screw and there are bits of plastic on it (that used to be the thread in the housing) Not inpressed at the moment!

The part that the screw goes into is the coolant/thermostat housing.
Im not sure if the thread will be able to be tapped again or not. Not sure if its any help to you but ive recently replaced the head gasket on my 1.4 engine and when i bolted the whole housing back onto the cylinder head on my engine i did the same as you and stripped the threads out of one of the bolt holes in the head.
To fix it i found another bolt and put two nuts on it to space it away so that it bit into the good threads closer to the start of the hole. You could always try this if you arnt able to get the threads tapped out or dont want to buy a new housing.

Thought it was the housing but wasn't sure, looks like it goes right back to the rear of the block! thanks for the help but the threads are gone right through. Cant believe the threads were plastic. Anyone know were to get the housing from?? I'm gonna look on Ebay in a sec but could do with getting one from an autofactors, (quickly) they just list the bloody thermostat though!
Is there much pressure through there??? Thinking of trying to cap off permanantly!
Ahhh the joys of owning a car!!

Dont know if this helps or not but might help you when finding a new one.
The top picture is the housing from my engine, might be slightly different on your engine, the bottom shows where it bolts onto.

Coolant housing
there's one on ebay i found when i was looking, thats for engine code kfx, might be different for you as i imagen you have engine code kfw. I cant seem to find on for engine code kfw might be worth trying your local scrappy.

Do you know if you have catalytic converter in the front exhaust downpipe? If you do its KFW, if not its KFX i THINK. Dont count on that though, i would wait for someone to confirm it. All i know is KFW is the more modern engine which was made for more strict emission rules.
Sorry i cant be more certain, i would like to know how you get on and whether there is differences between the housing between the different engine codes incase my bodge doesnt hold.

No, KFW=Dipstick on the left. (looking from the front of the engine bay)
Best thing is to look at the VIN which contains the engine code.
